Bar and Beyond: Atty. Rodolfo Aquino

By Sepha Pagdanganan

The Red Chronicles interviewed some San Beda College Alabang – School of Law (SBCA-SOL) mentors about the challenges they face in mentoring during the pandemic, the experiences they have, and their aspirations. Among those bar mentors is Atty. Rodolfo Aquino.

When asked about his thoughts regarding the mentorship, Atty. Aquino said that he was not blind to the realities and implications that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought. “There is very little we can personally do to support our examinees because of the pandemic,” he says. “I regret that we currently cannot even have dinner or coffee with our mentees.”

Atty. Aquino obtained finished his law studies in SBCA-SOL, where he graduated as Valedictorian, and placed 10th in the 2011 Bar Examinations. He is currently a law school professor at SBCA-SOL.

Despite the limitations, Atty. Aquino remains committed to his task. “The faculty felt responsible for our graduates and would like to do everything we can so that every SBCA law graduate passes the bar,” he stated. “The goal is that all graduates pass the bar sooner or later.”

As the SBCA-SOL bar examinees face their biggest undertaking yet, Atty. Aquino and the entire SOL faculty are confident in the preparation and training the students have undergone. The bar mentorship program is just one of the ways to make the bar takers feel that not only do they have the school rallying behind them, but they have their mentors as their guiding light to the finish line.∎
