Online learning is definitely here to stay, but as normalcy returns, students ought to prepare for possible blended learning in the near future. For the time being, the School of Law (SOL) will continue to hold classes online. The Red Chronicles spoke with Dwight Sambat, the newly-elected Secretary of the School of Law Government, regarding this year’s setup.

Sambat stated that students cannot be forced to attend in-person classes immediately given the current health statistics and the fact that many of the students are still in their respective provinces.

“Students should set their expectations that we will be pushing through with face-to-face (F2F) final examinations. Do note, however, that this may still change depending on the circumstances. If say, for example, a new Covid surge happens during the final exam period, then there is a possibility that F2F exams won’t push through or that the schedule will be pushed back.”

When asked about new attendance guidelines set in place, he confirmed that the Dean’s Office will follow the same policies being carried out last A.Y. 2021-2022.

“Suspensions due to a new Covid surge or lockdowns are always a possibility, but again, this is contingent on multiple factors.”

As many law schools are starting to implement blended learning, SBCA SOL is gradually adopting the same framework, in which case, students are expected to take their exams in person.

“They [students] will have to exert effort in going to Beda and taking the final examinations there. If there are no travel or health restrictions preventing them from coming to school, then they are not excused from taking F2F examinations.”

He also added that a new Class application is being developed for seamless dissemination of SOL updates and announcements—something that the students should look forward to.
