School administrators are the pillars committed to providing every student with the best and a positive learning environment. They regularly monitor the students’ progress to ensure that no one is left behind in attaining their academic goals and even go as far as providing interventions for students who are struggling.
To support a climate that is safe, supportive, and conducive to learning, the San Beda College Alabang – School of Law introduces us to the best school administrators for the academic year 2023-2024.
In braving our way through law school, let us meet the people who serve as our compass and help us thrive in this challenging phase of our lives.
DR. ULPIANO P. SARMIENTO III – DEAN
Fondly called the “Papa Dean Ulan,” Dr. Ulpiano P. Sarmiento III serves as the father and torch of the happiest law school. When he speaks, he does so with passion and sincerity, another reason students come to him when they feel lost. He ensures that the San Beda Alabang School of Law resonates with a warm and fostering environment while still providing students with the best legal education, striving to produce excellent Bedan Lawyers. He also teaches Obligations and Contracts, where he co-authored the law textbook on the same subject, Problem Areas in Legal Ethics and Conflict of Laws, among other subjects.
ATTY. CARLO D. BUSMENTE – VICE DEAN
Known for his calm temperament during recitations, Vice Dean Busmente guides the students beyond classes and law textbooks. He teaches Sales and Lease, Corporation Law, Law on Intellectual Property, and Commercial Law Review. You may also recognize him from basketball games organized through SOL events. Don’t forget to cheer him on!
ATTY. MA. ELIZA YAMAMOTO-SANTOS – PREFECT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
Atty. Yamamoto-Santos is loved by her students for her fair and collected manner of conducting classes, often guiding students through their recitations when they are too nervous to compose their thoughts. Indeed she is the perfect Prefect for the job. She advises students to work hard and diligently in pursuing their legal studies, for nothing worth having comes easy. You may have met her in your Persons and Family Relations, Credit Transactions, Insurance, and Partnership, Agency, and Trusts classes.
ATTY. ROBEN B. CADUGO JR. – ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
You might know him as “Atty. Jun,” the person we all count on for any inquiry on enrollment, enlistment, or when you just need advice on how to be a law student. He was already part of the administration long before becoming a distinguished Bedan lawyer and dedicated professor. He is well-loved by the whole SOL student body for his cool and bright composure, whether in person or on social media.
MS. LOUISE LEUTERIO & MS. NONA GUIAM
These pretty ladies are the vibrant personalities in the SOL community who can help you with enrolment concerns, grade inquiries, and other matters of administrative support. They are ever reliable, both as “Dean’s Angels” and as classmates, with their sunny dispositions and excellent communication skills. You may know them as the frontliners in the Dean’s office who are always approachable and ready to assist the students despite balancing work and studies. They are truly a blessing in this kind of environment.
MS. RACHELLE MATIENZO
Ms. Rachelle is a new addition to the Dean’s Angels trio. She is equally warm and accommodating, always prioritizing the needs of students. Under that calm deportment is a hardworking person with the patience and urgency to attend to every administrative inquiry. Indeed, her presence and competence complete our desk front liners.
MR. LEO ACUYAN – LOGISTICS
Kuya Leo, as we call him, is our ultimate go-to for all logistics matters. Constantly brimming with warmth and energy, he will make you feel at home in the happiest law school. He has witnessed the community’s growth and has become a best friend to students, including those who are now great Bedan Lawyers. If you need to find a place to study and eat within the campus, he is undoubtedly the best person to ask.
MS. SYLVIA ATIENZA – GUIDANCE COUNSELOR
In law school, you will experience the most taxing and challenging subjects (or professors). Ms. Sylvia is the school’s guidance counselor and model for our community. She is a testament that the happiest law school is here to support not only our academic development but also our social, emotional, and personal well-being. When you need to find your way through the hustle and bustle of law school, feel free to approach her. Her kindness and sympathy may be just what you need.
MS. MARILYN YAP – LIBRARIAN
What’s a better safe haven for law students than the library? That’s right, none! Ms. Marilyn Yap ensures that everyone gets access to reference materials, whether face-to-face or online. You might recognize her from the old library, wishing students the best of luck during exams week and assisting with reading materials needed for classes. She is the reason why we can go peacefully and quietly through our daily readings.
MS. MARYLYN FERNANDEZ- REGISTRAR
Full of life and radiating positive vibes, Ms. Marylyn is ready to assist with Registration and Records inquiries from students, including questions about admissions and transcripts. She can multitask and go through all sorts of documents gracefully. Whenever you need help, you can be assured that she is just an email away.
