Dear Bedans,
This coming midterm elections, what we have entitled here at The Red Chronicles as the “Next-Gen Elections,” underscores both the significance of youth participation in redefining the political landscape of the Philippines and the emergence of new legislators who represent youthful ideals and progressive agendas.
On the one hand, the youth sector is in a great position to break the barriers in politics by enhancing voter literacy and promoting participative legislation. The engagement of young people in political discourse is not only beneficial but essential for the vitality of democracy. Their capacity to challenge normative narratives and introduce innovative ideas, like using social media platforms to educate other voters, could serve as a catalyst for dismantling conventional political structures that have long dominated the Philippine landscape.
On the other hand, the youth sector is also entering the political sphere as new political faces greatly facilitate dialogue and amplify the concerns of marginalized groups, including themselves. This shift towards young political leaders reinforces the notion that governance should be a collective endeavor rather than a privilege reserved for the select (elder) few.
All these with the end goal of the renewal of our democracy. Ultimately, empowering the youth, YOU, my dear Bedans, to take active roles in shaping your future is a moral imperative but also and moreso a prerequisite for a resilient and inclusive democracy.
Make your voices be heard. Make your votes count. Make our country better. All the while knowing that in all things, God must be glorified.
