If there was one thing that law students face endlessly in their pursuit of the legal profession, it would be uncertainty. The path to becoming a lawyer is as dark as all the others – a shot into the void – in the sense that you will never truly know whether your efforts will come to fruition.

You study for years. You read the books. You answer the questions of your professors.

Still, all of it would boil down to the Bar Examinations — on whether you pass or not.

Would it really?

In making this issue, the Red Chronicles endeavored to congratulate the graduates for keeping their sparks alive and well throughout their journey in San Beda College-Alabang (SBCA). That in itself is already a feat to be celebrated, a prestige that the organization hopes to honor through this publication.

Ignis Vitae, when translated to Latin, refers to the “Fire of Life.”

At one point, perhaps that fire of yours may have dimmed, but the light steadily remains. It has gotten you through hours of reading heavy text materials, days of feeling anxious about recitations, and years of questioning whether you made the right decision.

It will also get you through the rigors of both preparing for and facing the dreaded bar examinations.

The Red Chronicles, together with the Council of Organizations and faculty members of SBCA, are ready to fuel the flames – whether it be through academic materials, mentoring, or even through sheer moral support.

It is at this very moment that you should let the fire burn as bright as it can in your quest to honor years of your life spent in the study of law.

In spite of the darkness, in spite of the uncertainty, let Ignis Vitae rule your heart, no matter the outcome.
