Last July 22, San Beda College Alabang School of Law Government, together with the Volunteer Corps, kicked off the 2024 Freshmen and Transferees Orientation Program (FTOP) to welcome the new batch of law students in St. Maur Auditorium.
The annual event was organized to provide upcoming law students with a warm welcome into the reputable scene of the Red Lions and the necessary preparations to become one.
It was themed “Uproar 2024: Welcome to the Lion’s Den.”
FTOP commenced with a campus tour around the school’s facilities, followed by an orientation proper where attendees learned about SBCA’s top-notch faculty and well-established customs.
At this event, freshmen and transferees were informed by the school’s Prefect, Atty. Elaiza Yamamoto, of key provisions in the student handbook, including school-appropriate clothing, formal greetings, and proper decorum.
In addition, library representatives gave a presentation on the school’s extensive collection of books, along with explanations of how one would go about borrowing and returning such items and enjoying the school’s various array of study areas.
Participants were also brought into sectioned classrooms, where they were given a glimpse into the lives of law school students through a class simulation. Senior students acted as impromptu professors to hold realistic imitations of daily recitation.
Notably, Vice Dean Carlo Busmente explained the significance of being a red lion. While they may not be the biggest or fastest animal, their sharp and determined mindset allows them to reign over the jungle hierarchy as its king.
The 2024 Freshmen and Transferees Orientation Program was estimated to have more than 100 new students, showcasing the prowess of San Beda College-Alabang in enticing more future lawyers into their mix.
It ended with introductory speeches from the school’s licensed organizations, seeking to attract and recruit new members into their groups. This included organizations such as The Red Chronicles, Volunteer Corps, the Centralized Bar Operations, Council of Moot and Debate, Bedan Law Review, Environmental Law Society, and a few others.
