MUNTINLUPA, PH—On December 13, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Philippines (SC) released the list of successful passers of the 2024 #MostValuableLaban Bar Examinations. With a 37.84% passing rate, the court proclaimed 3,962 out of 10,490 takers as new lawyers of the country.

SC held a press conference for the announcement of the results, projected on an LED screen in its courtyard at Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila, and live-streamed through its official social media channels.

Atty. Kyle Christian G. Tutor from the University of the Philippines topped the bar with a grade of 85.7700%, followed by Atty. Maria Christina S. Aniceto from Ateneo de Manila University and Atty. Gerald C. Roxas from Angeles University Foundation School of Law, with scores of 85.5400% and 84.3550%, respectively.

The SC also adjusted the passing grade for the Bar Examinations to 74% from 75%, marking an increase in the total number of passers from last year. The 2023 Bar Exam had a total of 3,812 successful takers and a 36.77% passing rate.

According to 2024 Bar Chairperson Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, the justices unanimously wanted more lawyers. He further explained that one of the reasons for deciding to lower the passing mark is the scarcity of lawyers in rural areas.

Correspondingly, San Beda College Alabang School of Law (SBCA SOL) garnered a 45.31% overall passing rate with 174 new Bedan lawyers.

The oathtaking and roll-signing ceremonies of the 2024 bar passers are scheduled for January 24, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
