San Beda College Alabang-School of Law (SBCA-SOL) representatives engaged in the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)’s Anti-Scam Playbook, a learning session aimed at raising consumer awareness amid growing concerns over financial scams and modern banking threats.
Held last July 23 at the BSP Complex Manila, the symposium covered the BSP’s legal framework, regulatory functions, and issuances in line with the Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act (RA 11765) and Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (RA 12010). Keynote talks featured Atty. Roberto Figueroa, Atty. Janice G. Ayson-Zales, and Atty. Alain Bert G. Regis.
“The speakers stressed that the law must continue to evolve alongside developments in the financial sector since some banking laws currently in force were enacted decades ago and were not designed to address the realities of emerging financial technologies,” shared Garry Garcia, a sophomore SBCA-SOL student in attendance.
The symposium gathered legal scholars and academics from 28 law schools, with Vice Dean Carlo Busmente leading the SBCA delegation.
