San Beda College Alabang – School of Law (SBCA-SOL) is known for being the ‘Happiest Law School.’ This designation is not only due to its vibrant community of aspiring lawyers but also because of its administrators, whose dedication, guidance, and support sustain the school and its students.

In the same way that the so-called lifeblood doctrine emphasizes the essential role of taxation in sustaining government operations, SBCA-SOL administrators serve as the lifeblood of the institution. Their leadership circulates knowledge, discipline, and encouragement throughout the school, ensuring that students receive the guidance necessary to succeed in their legal studies.

The academic year 2025–2026 brings further enhancements that strengthen the school’s foundation, providing students with comprehensive, effective, and high-yield legal education. The administrators who serve as the heart of SBCA-SOL are:

Dr. Ulpiano P. Sarmiento III – Dean

The heartbeat of SBCA-SOL, known as “Papa Dean Ulan,” serves as the father and head of the law school family. He provides guidance and leadership that energizes the entire school, fostering opportunities for students to achieve their goals while ensuring academic rigor and holistic development. A respected author on Obligations and Contracts and private education, he continues to inspire through his teaching of Legal Philosophy, Legal Research and Writing, Obligations and Contracts, Gender Sensitivity, Civil Law Review 2, and Conflict of Laws.

Atty. Carlo D. Busmente – Vice Dean

Atty. Busmente serves as the steady rhythm that supports the heartbeat of SBCA-SOL. His calm, organized approach and professional experience as a corporate counsel and legal consultant ensure that students and faculty work in harmony toward academic excellence. He teaches Sales and Lease, Corporation Law, Intellectual Property, and Commercial Law Review, consistently connecting legal principles with real-world application.

Atty. Ma. Eliza Yamamoto-Santos – Prefect of Student Affairs

The motherly guidance of Atty. Yamamoto-Santos represents the heart’s warmth within SBCA-SOL. She is committed to student development, supporting students amid academic challenges while maintaining high standards in courses such as Persons and Family Relations, Credit Transactions, and Insurance.

Atty. Roben “Jun” Cadugo – Administrative Officer

Atty. Cadugo embodies the steady pulse behind SBCA-SOL, maintaining high standards in teaching while ensuring smooth administrative processes such as enrollment and enlistment. His dedication provides students with guidance and support throughout their law school journey. He teaches Statutory Construction, Election Law, Legal Profession, Practice Court 1 and 2, and Conflict of Laws.

Ms. Rachelle Matienzo, Ms. Lia Chua, Ms. Kimberly Andersen and Ms. Jezzel Jomiller – The Dean’s Office Angels

Known as the “DO Angels,” these administrators ensure continuous communication and operational support throughout a student’s stay at law school. Their work facilitates the flow of information and assistance, serving as the heart valves that maintain smooth and consistent support for students and faculty alike.

Ms. Sylvia Atienza – Guidance Counselor

Ms. Atienza represents the heart’s calm pulse at SBCA-SOL. As guidance counselor and the School of Law Internship and Development’s (SOLID) moderator, she provides emotional and mental support, helping students manage the stress of law school and personal challenges. She extends her support through warm emails, ensuring that students are not burdened by routine interviews. Counseling sessions are also scheduled at the most convenient times.

Mr. Leo Acuyan – Logistics

Affectionately called “Kuya Leo,” he exemplifies the heart’s steady beat that ensures the smooth functioning of the school. His simple “Hi” and ever-present smile brighten the hallways while his practical advice and readiness to assist with logistics create a welcoming and supportive environment for students.
