Last May 27, 2021 Ma’am Nella Peñaranda Abelita-Cobello from the San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) Office of the Registrar was promoted as the new Alumni Moderator under the Office of Institutional Advancement. She has previously served as a Records Assistant of SBCA catering primarily to the School of Law in which she has served with much care and affection and was well appreciated not just by her colleagues, but of the School of Law community as well.
Ma’am Nella’s efficient work ethic and outstanding competence truly makes her promotion well-deserved. Also noteworthy is the work dedication she has shown throughout the years, being one of the longest serving members of the Registrar’s Office. Known as being keen on details, she has served SBCA not only with diligence, but also with kindness.
Former SOL Dean’s Office staff member Ms. Jihan Eson—popularly known as “Ate Ji”—recounts meeting Ma’am Nella. “She is one of the first people I bonded with in Beda,” she said. Ate Ji describes her not only as an industrious colleague but also a good friend. “Ay, kung work lang napaka keen nya sa details, sobrang efficient. Very deserving[siya][sa]promotion nya. Napakabait nya, super mapagbigay, maayos sa gamit, masipag, maasikaso na kaibigan, [at]super sweet. Hindi siya mahirap pakisamahan. Congratulations to my friend,” she added.
“I met Ms. Nella when I entered college because she was the one in charge of my scholarship application to be a student assistant of the SOL Dean’s Office,” remembers Ms. Emm Sese, currently a staff member from the SOL Dean’s Office. “When I was hired as an employee of the same office early last year, I was able to work with her more. Ms. Nella is very hardworking and efficient as an employee; she makes sure that she gets all the work done. She is also very understanding and considerate whenever I make mistakes at work. She may be strict sometimes but it is always reasonable. I am sure those are the reasons why she got promoted. No doubt, she deserves this new opportunity. Ms. Nels will always be part of the School of Law family,” said Sese .
According to Mika Arevalo, an SBCA-SOL alumna and current underbar, Ms. Nella is always there, willing and ready to lend a hand.
“Ms. Nella has always been so helpful regarding registrar matters. If Ms. Nella is not by her window in the registrar, students get lost with what needs to be done, what requirements need to be submitted, I personally felt that. She is approachable. Her smiling face gives the impression that she is approachable, and she truly is approachable.”
Like many law students, Arevalo is grateful to Ma’am Nella for all her years of faithful service and dedication to the SOL community. “Ma’am Nella! Maraming salamat sa ilang taong paglilingkod. Maraming salamat sa serbisyo at sa mga salitang ‘ipagdadasal ko kayo’ kung alam mo lang kung gaano nakakabusog ng puso ang mga salitang ‘yon. Maraming salamat! May you enjoy your new journey and be blessed more! See you again soon Ms. Nella!” she adds.
It is evident that the promotion was well deserved, and her colleagues, as well as the entire student body, will always be grateful that she is part of our family.
Congratulations, Ma’am Nella. We are all proud of you! ∎
